## Description

Szegedi Kendó Egyesület is a kendo club based in Szeged, Hungary, dedicated to traditional Japanese swordsmanship and modern kendo. It welcomes both beginners and experienced practitioners, offering adult and youth training as well as introductory sessions for newcomers. No previous martial arts experience or personal equipment is required to attend a first practice; comfortable sportswear and water are enough.

Training introduces participants progressively to kendo’s fundamentals, including movement, cutting techniques and partner exercises, alongside the discipline’s broader values. The club presents kendo as both physical and mental practice, supporting fitness, body awareness, concentration, perseverance and decision-making. Respect and a supportive, friendly community are also central to its approach.

Regular sessions are held at the University of Szeged Sports Centre, with the usual schedule on Mondays and Fridays from 6 p.m. The club recommends contacting it by email before a first visit to confirm current practice times. In addition to training, it shares club news and information about demonstrations, events and competitions, helping promote kendo in Szeged.
