## Description

The Surrey Teaching Centre is a medical pupil referral unit based at The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey. It provides education for children and young people admitted to the Trust for rehabilitation following an acquired brain injury. Some pupils also have special educational needs associated with a degenerative syndrome or condition. Pupils come from across the UK and typically attend for an average of six to 12 weeks, while they and their families navigate significant challenges.

The Centre’s work combines education with understanding and support for pupils, families and carers. Its website offers information for parents and carers, class pages, news, term dates and details about the Centre’s staff, curriculum, policies and admissions-related provision. The Surrey Teaching Centre also provides a Resource Hub with practical guidance for schools supporting children and young people after brain injury. Topics include communication, vision, mobility, motor skills, memory, sensory approaches and fatigue, alongside guidance on short-term education for children with health needs.
