Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) is an artist-run production center that is dedicated to the art of independent animation. As a non-profit and charitable organization, TAIS explores and promotes independent animation through various means such as production, screenings, workshops, and exhibitions. With a history dating back to 1984, TAIS has evolved to support the multidisciplinary and global context of animated arts.

TAIS prioritizes diverse, intersectional, and progressive artistic and community-based interests while maintaining support for the traditions of animation. Their membership consists of contemporary multi-disciplinary artists, media artists, 3D and VR animators, as well as classical, digital hand-drawn, and stop-motion animators. TAIS offers specialized animation studios with 24/7 access and affordable rates, complete with production equipment.

Through partnerships and touring programs, TAIS presents animation to audiences locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally. They also engage in community outreach and skills-building workshops within the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. TAIS is committed to providing inclusive and financially accessible services, programs, and resources, reflecting an evolving definition of animation.
