## Description

Take Heart Film is a compelling initiative dedicated to combatting Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in Australasia, particularly among Indigenous Australians, Māori, and Pacific Islanders. This project features a one-hour documentary narrated by acclaimed journalist Stan Grant, alongside 25 impactful short films that share the stories of young individuals living with RHD. Through a free smartphone app and an action toolkit, Take Heart aims to educate communities about this entirely preventable disease, which poses a significant health threat to vulnerable populations.

RHD is a chronic condition that can arise from untreated sore throats and skin infections, leading to severe complications such as open-heart surgery and lifelong health issues. Take Heart emphasizes the importance of early intervention, medical follow-ups, and community support in managing this pressing public health challenge. The film also engages with broader themes of social inequity and the urgent need to address disparities in Indigenous health. Overall, Take Heart serves as a vital resource for raising awareness and fostering action against RHD in affected communities.
