## Description

Tangled is an open-source, federated code forge built for modern code collaboration. Based on AT Protocol, it lets developers host code across different servers and submit pull requests or bug reports to repositories hosted anywhere in the network. Teams can use Tangled’s hosted instances or run services on their own infrastructure.

The platform supports stacked pull requests, enabling contributors to divide large changes into smaller, reviewable steps, with code reviews that compare revisions. Its knots service provides repository hosting, while spindles runs continuous integration on users’ own machines. CI jobs run in NixOS-powered microVMs, can build containers or start services such as PostgreSQL and Redis, and use cached inputs to speed up later runs.

Tangled is designed for both people and software agents: issues, pull requests and comments are represented as signed JSON records, and agents can participate through their own accounts using plain Git. The system is extensible, allowing custom repository storage, CI providers and clients through its lexicon specification.
