## Description

The Scottish Register of Tartans is a national repository of tartan designs, launched in February 2009. Administered by the National Records of Scotland, it offers a database with thousands of tartans registered since its inception. This platform consolidates information from previous entities like the Scottish Tartans Society and the Scottish Tartans Authority, ensuring a comprehensive collection. Established by the Scottish Parliament in 2008, the Register aims to promote and preserve historic and contemporary tartans from Scotland and worldwide. Users can freely search for tartans and contribute by reporting any inaccuracies. With a focus on compliance with the Scottish Register of Tartans Act 2008, the platform offers a centralized resource for tartan enthusiasts, scholars, and designers. For media queries or additional information, the NRS Communication Team and the National Records of Scotland can be contacted, further enhancing the accessibility and reliability of this valuable resource.
