Taskforce Kiwi is a veteran-led organization that aims to have a real impact on disaster recovery operations in New Zealand. Following in the footsteps of similar organizations worldwide, Taskforce Kiwi recognizes the importance of veterans in providing efficient and effective disaster relief and recovery. The team at Taskforce Kiwi is led by Bevan Killick as the Board Chair, along with Stephanie Rotarangi, Neville Reilly, and Richard Adams as Board Members. Taskforce Kiwi plans to develop a range of capabilities to aid disaster recovery efforts. These capabilities include spontaneous volunteer management, plant operations and coordination, water, sanitation, and hygiene, mental health and psychological first aid, evacuee and refugee coordination, first aid and medical support, debris clearance and disposal, impact and damage assessment, emergency construction and repair, aerial impact and damage assessment, incident management support, and logistics support and distribution. The logo of Taskforce Kiwi showcases a diamond, which has been worn by New Zealand troops since World War I. The Kiwi, representing New Zealand's national bird and icon, adorns RNZAF aircraft and the uniforms of servicemen and women across the Army, Navy, and Airforce. Taskforce Kiwi abides by internationally recognized humanitarian principles, including humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence. These principles guide their dedication to helping others without discrimination and regardless of political, economic, or military objectives.
