## Description

The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) is the UK’s leading professional body for people working across all areas of taxation. Its primary purpose is to promote tax education, while advocating for a more efficient and less complex tax system. Through professional qualifications, learning resources and public policy work, CIOT supports tax practitioners at different stages of their careers and contributes to discussion about how taxation can work better for everyone.

The Institute offers the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification, including joint programmes with ICAEW and ICAS, as well as the ADIT qualification and specialist learning such as a short course introducing artificial intelligence and generative AI for tax. Its resources include webinars, technical submissions, career guidance and Tax Adviser magazine, which features news, updates and professional insights. CIOT also supports a volunteer-led branch network that hosts regional activities and learning opportunities. Its wider work includes the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group, which provides dedicated information and support concerning tax issues affecting people on lower incomes.
