## Description

Harita Nickel, operated by PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk, develops nickel resources on Obi Island in Indonesia. The company processes nickel ore into materials for the stainless-steel and battery industries, serving different stages of the metals supply chain. Its products include high-grade saprolite ore, used in stainless-steel production, and lower-grade limonite ore, processed using high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL). Processing outputs include ferronickel, mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), nickel sulfate, cobalt sulfate, and electrolytic cobalt. MHP, a nickel-cobalt intermediate, can be further refined into battery precursor materials.

Harita Nickel describes sustainability as a core commitment, including cooperation with the Indonesian government to support its goals for net-zero carbon emissions by 2060 or sooner and a 23% share of renewable energy by 2025. The company also says it follows the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights across its operations. Its website reports contributions including 26,529 workers, 45.5% from North Maluku, and more than 3.1 million tonnes of avoided CO2e emissions.
