## Description

The John Templeton Foundation is a philanthropic organization that supports interdisciplinary research and public engagement to deepen understanding of life’s most profound questions. Guided by a vision of a world where people are curious about the universe, free to pursue meaning and purpose, and motivated by selfless love, the Foundation invests in bold ideas that cross disciplinary boundaries and challenge conventional assumptions. Its funding areas include character and virtue development, individual freedom and free markets, life sciences, mathematical and physical sciences, public engagement, and religion, science, and society. The Foundation offers grants for research and public-facing projects, with resources for applicants including a grant calendar, FAQs, and a database of awards. It also shares perspectives from grantees, journalists, and staff through Templeton Ideas and a podcast. Related initiatives include Templeton Press, the Templeton Prize, the Humble Approach Initiative, and Templeton Futures, which brings philanthropic investment to complex issues such as the future of intelligence. Through its programs, the organization encourages informed dialogue among scientists, philosophers, theologians, and the public.
