## Description

Tennessee Talks is a dedicated initiative funded by the Tennessee Department of Education, aimed at supporting students with significant communication challenges throughout the state. By collaborating with local educational teams, Tennessee Talks provides invaluable resources and assistance at no cost to schools, students, and their families. The program focuses on enhancing awareness and implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems while promoting evidence-based practices.

Tennessee Talks specializes in several key areas, such as guiding educational teams through AT-AAC assessments and helping identify necessary access supports for students with physical disabilities. They offer trials and support for AAC devices through regional lending libraries and assist with customizing device programming. Additionally, the initiative hosts professional development training for speech therapists and parents, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge to foster effective communication solutions. With a commitment to creating supportive learning communities, Tennessee Talks plays a crucial role in empowering individuals with diverse communication needs across the Mid & Upper Cumberland, East TN, and other regions.
