## Description

Terrain.org is an independent online environmental magazine and literary journal focused on the connections between people and place. Published by Terrain Publishing since 1998, it features literature, art, commentary, and design exploring both natural and built environments. Its work is available to readers at no cost and without advertising, with support welcomed through donations and subscriptions.

The magazine publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, interviews, reviews, editorials, and visual art, alongside podcasts, soundscapes, and ongoing editorial series. Its coverage includes environmental themes, climate stories, science, ecology, and reflections on landscapes and communities. ARTerrain presents galleries of paintings, photography, and other visual work, while Unsprawl shares case studies of community planning and the built environment. Terrain.org also offers news, events, and opportunities for writers and artists to submit work, including prizes and special projects such as Poetry & Polar Science. Through Teach Terrain.org, it provides resources for high schools, colleges, and communities. With a reader-supported publishing model, Terrain.org brings literature, environmental perspectives, and place-based work to a broad audience.
