Test Pressing is a brand that exists at the intersection of music, design, and art. Founded in October 2008 by Paul Byrne, a.k.a Apiento, Test Pressing covers and promotes mixes that channel a sound stemming from the balearic sound of Ibiza in the mid to late 80s. However, their scope has now expanded to a modern "anything goes" attitude. Their website consists of three key areas: Magazine, Mixes, and Archive. The magazine features reviews, news, event information, interviews, and anything else that piques their interest. The Mixes section is home to an ever-growing archive of hundreds of mixes by talented DJs and selectors. Finally, their Archive section serves as a repository of scans that contribute to a history of their culture. Test Pressing also produces merchandise, publishes print pieces, and maintains a polite and vibrant forum for music discussion. With no funding or brand support, Test Pressing operates as a not-for-profit website, run purely for the love of music and the desire to support knowledge and appreciation of the culture and new music they find interesting.
