## Description

Texas Shotokan Karate Association (TSKA) is a traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate dojo in Allen, Texas, affiliated with the Japan Karate Association (JKA). Founded in Waco in 1986 by James Melton, the association was reestablished in Allen in 2021 by Chief Instructor Kendrick Chumak. Its approach emphasizes budo, or the warrior’s way, rather than treating karate primarily as a competitive sport. Training supports physical health, self-defense, the study of Japanese culture, and the development of discipline and skill.

TSKA offers instruction for students across different experience levels, including an intermediate course for ranks from 7th Kyu to 1st Kyu. Classes are led by instructors with extensive training and qualifications in karate, coaching, judging, and examination. The association encourages prospective students to visit and observe before joining.

The TSKA shop offers karate uniforms, colored belts, training gloves, dojo patches, JKA membership and passport items, and association apparel. Visitors can contact the dojo by phone or email to ask about programs and membership.
