## Description

The Tucson Gem and Mineral Society (TGMS), established in 1946, is a vibrant non-profit organization dedicated to fostering interest and appreciation in geology, mineralogy, and lapidary arts. Initially formed by a small group of enthusiasts, TGMS aims to enhance educational engagement through various offerings, including informative monthly meetings, special events, and a diverse range of educational classes. Members can participate in field trips throughout Arizona, providing hands-on experiences in mineral collecting. TGMS also plays a vital role in supporting local educational initiatives, funding scholarships in the Geoscience Department at the University of Arizona, and contributing to museums like The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The highlight of the year is the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show®, a unique event showcasing exceptional mineral and jewelry exhibits, bringing together experts and dealers for an enriching community experience. Through these programs, TGMS continues to inspire and connect gem enthusiasts and collectors, offering both knowledge and adventure in the earth sciences.
