Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP) is a not-for-profit integrated rural development program that aims to uplift poor and vulnerable communities, specifically women, in the deprived and remote areas of Sindh Province in Pakistan. At the core of TRDP's work is social mobilization, which forms the foundation of their program. By actively involving community institutions, TRDP implements activities under five major themes: sustainable livelihoods and enterprise development, elementary education (with a focus on girls), mother and child health, food security and nutrition improvement, and disaster preparedness, management, and water & sanitation. TRDP has successfully registered and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Economic Affairs Division of the Government of Pakistan. Their approach is characterized by a three-tiered social mobilization system, where community organizations elect village organizations and further federate into representative bodies called local support organizations. TRDP's integrated approach allows for the growth of responsible community organizations that serve as a delivery mechanism and facilitate efficient collaboration with government bodies, other development programs, and the market. With a goal to enlarge the choices and opportunities available to marginalized segments, TRDP remains committed to empowering communities and driving transformation from agro-pastoral living to a more prosperous and semi-industrialized society.
