## Description

The 1940’s Experiment is a food and lifestyle blog created by Carolyn Swiss, focused on exploring how people can cook and live using the principles of Britain’s Second World War home-front experience. It shares a wide range of wartime recipes, including dishes inspired by Ministry of Food leaflets and recipes contributed by readers, alongside practical guidance on rationing, pantry cooking, kitchen measures and conversions. Visitors can browse more than 200 wartime recipes, try ideas from the Pandemic Pantry and Crisis Cooking series, and access free cookbook resources and original 1940s downloads. The site also features information about Swiss’s forthcoming book on ration-book recipes, personal updates about her experience of living on wartime rations, and weight-loss progress. In addition to its editorial content, Carolyn offers advisory services and shares media and press information. Through recipes, historical context and personal storytelling, The 1940’s Experiment helps readers discover economical, resourceful cooking while engaging with the realities and ingenuity of wartime food culture.
