## Description

**Brand Description: Levvel**

Levvel is a cutting-edge building consortium formed by BAM, Van Oord, and Rebel, dedicated to enhancing the resilience of the Afsluitdijk, a vital dike protecting the Netherlands from sea flooding since 1932. Commissioned by the Executive Agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Levvel's mission is to strengthen this critical infrastructure to meet contemporary water safety standards, particularly in the face of climate change challenges like rising sea levels and severe weather events.

Utilizing innovative construction techniques, Levvel has developed specialized concrete blocks known as Levvel-blocs, designed to withstand powerful storm waves while significantly reducing material use and CO2 emissions. The project also involves creating a recreational cycling and hiking path along the dike, promoting accessibility and engagement with nature.

With sustainability at its core, Levvel's work ensures the renewed Afsluitdijk will safeguard the region until at least 2050, employing Adaptive Delta Management strategies for future reinforcement needs. Through their commitment to effective engineering solutions, Levvel is shaping a safe and sustainable future for the Netherlands.
