The Ayaan Hirsi Ali Foundation (AHA Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by Ayaan Hirsi Ali in 2007. Our mission is to put the ideas she writes about into practice, with a commitment to preserving, protecting, and promoting Western freedoms and ideals. At AHA Foundation, we work tirelessly to liberate women and girls from oppressive traditional practices that violate their human rights. We address issues such as honor violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), and child/forced marriage, which unfortunately still occur in the United States today. We collaborate with policy makers, law enforcement, social services, and communities to raise awareness and end these harmful practices. By supporting women at risk through advocacy, training, and resources, we are the only organization in the U.S. Additionally, we recognize the importance of upholding civil rights on college campuses. Through our initiatives, we provide opportunities for students to engage with topics often neglected in academic curricula, such as human rights, Constitutional liberties, and the relationship between Islam and the West. Furthermore, we unify activists to expose the dangers of Islamist extremism. Our founder, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, calls for the reform of Islam to be more compatible with fundamental human rights. We collaborate with Muslim and ex-Muslim reformers, building a diverse coalition to push back against the dangerous ideology of Islamist extremism and prioritize universal human rights and secular governance.
