## Description

The Alma J. Cameron Foundation for Cancer Awareness works to bridge the gap between conventional and integrative cancer treatment. Honoring Alma J. Cameron, fondly known as Jean, the foundation focuses on improving cancer awareness and access to supportive care. Its education efforts target underserved African American and Latina women in South Los Angeles, with particular attention to lung cancer’s early warning signs and prevention. The foundation produces public service announcements, short documentary films, and other media to share information and encourage community participation. It also provides monetary support to women of color with any form of cancer who are seeking integrative treatments to support their physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being before, during, and after conventional treatment. Through its website, the foundation shares resources on lung cancer symptoms, cancer support, nutrition, and well-being, alongside articles and videos. Its projects include cancer and nutrition information and an art gallery. Donations and support from local and national sponsors help the foundation continue its work, guided by a commitment to making health care more accessible and affordable regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic position.
