The Arcade is a non-profit collaborative workspace designed specifically for game developers and creative companies utilizing game methodologies and technologies. Established in 2013, The Arcade in Melbourne aimed to create an environment that fostered creativity, collaboration, and inclusivity within the gaming community. Throughout its history, The Arcade has been instrumental in the creation of numerous successful games, the establishment of communities, and the growth of talented studios.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances like COVID-19 and building renovations, the physical doors of The Arcade closed in 2022. Despite this, the Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA), which now manages The Arcade after its merger with the GDAA, continues to support the Australian video games industry through innovative programs and tools. These initiatives include addressing talent issues, such as the need for diverse individuals to enter and thrive in the gaming industry, and providing educational events, networking opportunities, and mentoring programs.
