## Description

Greenpeace and Everyday Plastic have joined forces to conduct The Big Plastic Count, which is the largest investigation into UK household plastic waste. Their research, involving nearly 250,000 people from schools, households, and communities, revealed that almost 100 billion pieces of plastic are discarded annually in the UK, with minimal recycling. The initiative aims to gather substantial evidence that will compel the government to take decisive action on plastic pollution.

In 2017, Everyday Plastic's founder, Daniel Webb, meticulously collected all of his plastic waste for a year, developing a unique methodology to determine his personal plastic footprint with the help of a scientific researcher. By participating in The Big Plastic Count, individuals gain the opportunity to understand the fate of their plastic waste once it is discarded.

By enlisting in The Big Plastic Count, participants can contribute to the accumulation of crucial data on the UK's plastic usage, urging the government and companies to address the fact that recycling alone cannot resolve the plastic pollution crisis. The initiative also supports the ongoing negotiations for The Global Plastics Treaty, an international legal agreement aimed at mitigating the negative effects of plastic pollution. Join The Big Plastic Count and become an essential player in advocating for significant change and the protection of our planet.
