## Description

The Captain’s Log is Andrew Kirk’s technology field journal, based in Bombay, Aotearoa, where he shares projects, reviews, lessons and discoveries for curious readers. Written from the perspective of a solutions architect and lifelong Trekkie, the site explores practical technology as well as ambitious side projects, with an emphasis on what worked, what did not and what others might find useful.

Its subjects include artificial intelligence, homelabs, home networking, Internet of Things builds, gadgets, astronomy and learning. Entries range from building a LoRa-powered parcel notification system and developing a recipe app to setting up homelab displays, exploring AI tools and rebuilding an observatory website. The site also publishes a focused weekly technology briefing that highlights developments worth understanding without the launch-day noise.

Readers can browse recent articles and an archive of project write-ups, reviews and technical investigations, or get in touch to compare notes, ask a question or suggest a project.
