## Description

Chicago Public Schools is proud to host a Black History Empowerment program that celebrates Black chess. In collaboration with Howard University Chess Team and Daaim Shabazz of The Chess Drum, this program highlights the achievements and success of the "Howard Bison" team, including Michele Bennett, Malcolm Wooten, Azeezah Muhammad, and Naomi Baptiste. The team shares their experience of participating in the 2020-2021 Pan American Intercollegiate Championship on chess.com. The program is hosted by David Heiser and Jourdain Gant of Renaissance Knights Chess. Chicago Public Schools believes that Black History should be celebrated year-round. They welcome The Chess Drum and emphasize the importance of recognizing and appreciating Black contributions in the world of chess.
