## Description

THE CITY is a nonprofit, nonpartisan brand that launched in 2019 as a digital news platform dedicated to delivering hard-hitting reporting for the people of New York. Our mission is to provide high-quality and impactful accountability reporting that empowers individuals to make informed decisions. Unlike other news outlets, we believe that access to information should be free for all, which is why our work is accessible without the need for a subscription. We are committed to the principles of transparency and independence. By relying on the support of our members, donors, and sponsors, we ensure that our reporting remains unbiased and focused on serving the community. Our goal is to maintain the vital connection between government, journalism, and citizen needs. We believe that independent local reporting is essential for a functioning democracy, as it holds local authorities accountable and keeps citizens informed about important policies, spending, and actions. Join THE CITY in our mission to promote transparency, empower individuals, and strengthen the fabric of our society. Together, we can build a better future for New York.
