Cool Girls is a dedicated organization based in Atlanta, GA that focuses on the self-empowerment of girls. With a mission to break the cycles of poverty, low self-esteem, and teen pregnancy, Cool Girls inspires young girls to change their world through education and exposure to broader opportunities. Established in 1989 by Dawn Smith, Cool Girls began its journey to support girls living in the East Lake Meadows housing community, known as one of Atlanta's most violent public housing projects at the time.

Through academic support, field trips, and a girls-only club, Cool Girls provided a secure and supportive environment for these girls. Over the years, the organization has adapted its programs to meet the evolving needs of its members, with initiatives such as the Cool Sisters mentoring program, the Cool Scholars program for volunteer tutoring, and the development of a middle school curriculum. Today, Cool Girls partners with eight Title 1 schools, serving over 350 girls in DeKalb and Fulton Counties.

Their research-based programs have been evaluated by the Center for Disease Control and Georgia State University's Psychology Department, ensuring their efficacy. By offering motivation, encouragement, and guidance, Cool Girls empowers girls to make smart choices and positively transform their lives
