## Description

The Education Project is a volunteer-run organization providing free, one-on-one virtual tutoring to minority and low-income students from kindergarten through grade 12. Founded on March 23, 2020, it aims to support academic success and help students build pathways toward college and career readiness through personalized instruction and mentorship. The organization matches students with suitable tutors, who arrange an initial meeting to discuss learning needs, school materials, and educational goals. Its tutoring commonly uses IXL Learning alongside the skills and experience of its tutor community. College students and professionals can apply to volunteer by sharing information about their backgrounds and preferred tutoring subjects; applicants complete a verification and onboarding process. The Education Project also offers tutor guidance and development resources, college readiness information, and opportunities to volunteer within the organization. Its service is free for students, and the organization emphasizes student safety and privacy, including checking tutors’ backgrounds and limiting access to student applications.
