## Description

The Foundation of Resources for Teens, known as The FORT, is a registered charitable organization serving young people in West Niagara, Ontario. Established in 2001 in response to rising teen suicide and depression rates, it works to help youth make positive, successful life choices through guidance, connection, and opportunity. The FORT describes itself as the area’s only free, non-religious, full-service youth drop-in resource centre, providing a safe, supportive place beyond home and school where young people can build relationships, feel a sense of belonging, and try new activities. Its free recreational programs encourage positive peer interaction and offer constructive ways for youth to spend time. The organization also provides or connects young people with professional mental health counselling, employment and social services, emergency shelter, meals and clothing, and addiction-related support. The FORT serves thousands of youth each year through its Grimsby and Smithville locations. It is open Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and welcomes community support through donations, sponsorships, and volunteering.
