## Description

Butoke is a small non-governmental organization working with impoverished communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Led by Dr. Jean Lumbala Muamba, a physician and agronomist, it combines education, healthcare, nutrition, child care, agriculture and legal support to address local needs.

Butoke operates two primary schools and a secondary school offering academic and vocational training, and provides university scholarships to some graduates. Its health services include three licensed clinics, with care for mothers, children and adults; people unable to pay are treated free of charge. The organization also supports orphaned children, runs a shelter for elderly people without resources, and provides meals and nutrition rehabilitation for children experiencing malnutrition.

The Friends of Butoke Charity raises funds for the organization and states that all donations it receives go to Butoke, with charity operating costs covered by its trustees.
