## Description

The Fulcrum is the independent English-language student newspaper at the University of Ottawa, established in February 1942. It serves as a reliable source of accessible and independent information for the university community. As a member of Canadian University Press (CUP), the Fulcrum Publishing Society (FPS) has owned and operated the newspaper since June 1, 2005. The FPS is a not-for-profit corporation registered in Ontario, governed by a ten-member board of directors. All U of O students contribute to the Fulcrum through a student levy and are considered members of the corporation, eligible to attend the monthly board meetings. Students can also become voting members and have a vote at the annual general meeting by registering and confirming their enrollment with the Society. The Fulcrum's mission is to hold those in power accountable and promote the wellbeing of the university community by providing independent information. Their vision is for every community member to have the Fulcrum in the palm of their hand.
