The Gobbins is a coastal visitor attraction on Islandmagee, Northern Ireland, offering guided walks along a dramatic cliff-face route above the sea. Conceived by 19th-century engineer Berkeley Deane Wise, the path reflects the ambition of the Edwardian era, when engineering, rail travel and tourism were brought together to create a distinctive experience. Visitors follow a route carved into the rock, crossing tubular bridges, passing between coastal outcrops and exploring the mouths of caves. Along the way, they can take in views across the North Channel and, on clear days, see the coast of Scotland.
