## Description

The Healthy Athlete Project is an education and awareness initiative focused on female health and the gender-specific needs of athletes in sport and recreation. It aims to help athletes, coaches, parents and support staff better understand how to support female athletes and optimise their health and performance.

The project offers educational presentations designed to be engaging and relevant to sporting communities. Its work addresses topics such as puberty and development, the differing physical capacities of athletes of the same age, and how growth can affect movement, bone strength and tolerance of training loads. The project also supports the development of female health literacy within sporting organisations.

Led by Kylie, The Healthy Athlete Project works with individuals and organisations to build understanding and encourage safe, balanced approaches to athlete development. Its website features a blog with information on female athlete health and performance, along with examples of workshops and presentations, including work with the New Zealand Cricket Pathway 2 Performance programme.
