Their mission is to preserve and protect wildlife and habitat through the support of wildlife rehabilitation. Wildlife rehabilitation involves providing temporary care for injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife with the goal of releasing them back into the wild.

Founded in 1972, IWRC has been improving wildlife care worldwide by offering training and resources to wildlife rehabilitators. They aim to create a professional association where wildlife rehabilitators can access reliable, science-based information and share resources to improve the quality of care for injured wild animals. Since its establishment, IWRC has supported approximately 16,000 wildlife rehabilitators.

With a dedicated team of staff members, including the Membership and Development Coordinator, Programs & Membership Manager, Executive Director, International Programs Coordinator, Bookkeeper, and North American Course Coordinator, IWRC is committed to supporting its global network of wildlife rehabilitators and professionals. Through their courses, certification programs, and journals, IWRC provides valuable education for those interested in wildlife rehabilitation.
