The Lockdown Collection (TLC) is a remarkable brand that was established as a 48-hour-idea-to-launch initiative by Sirdar Group, MRS WOOLF, and Artist Proof Studio. Its primary objective is to capture the reality of the Covid-19 Pandemic through the powerful medium of visual art. To support artists in South Africa during this challenging time, funds were raised for the Vulnerable Artists Fund (VAF) through the sale of historic artworks. The concept behind TLC was to curate 21 art pieces, unveiled day by day, by different South African artists, reflecting their unique experiences and perspectives during the Covid-19 lockdown. These artworks were then showcased and sold through an innovative online auction. Incredibly, the auction achieved a white glove sale, raising over R2 Million for the VAF, with a percentage also donated to the President’s Solidarity Fund. Recognizing the crucial role that artists play in society, TLC aims to support and sustain them. Artists serve as record keepers, creators of beauty, truth revealers, thought provokers, and inspiration for humanity. By preserving their culture and offering them support, TLC ensures that the world becomes a better, richer, and fairer place. As COVID-19 persisted, TLC extended its collections to include the TLC Extension Collection and the TLC Student Collection, further expanding its impact and reach.
