## Description

The Magic Yarn Project is a volunteer-powered nonprofit that creates handmade character wigs and beanies for children experiencing hair loss due to cancer, burns, and other medical conditions or treatments. Its mission is to bring joy to young patients and inspire people to make a difference through crafting. Every item is made by volunteers and provided free to families.

The project offers more than 50 character wig styles, including favorites such as Elsa, Rapunzel, and Belle, as well as over two dozen soft character beanies for children who prefer not to wear yarn hair. Families can request a wig for an individual child, while hospitals, cancer centers, and nonprofits can request supplies for the children they serve. The organization also provides free training for aspiring makers, hosts workshops, and connects volunteers through chapters and community leaders.

Founded after a handmade wig brought happiness to a child facing cancer, The Magic Yarn Project has grown into an international volunteer network.
