## Description

The Map Archive is a renowned brand with a vast collection of world maps and historic events maps. Established in the 1970s by Malcolm Swanston, a passionate history enthusiast and skilled map illustrator, the brand offers a wide range of innovative thematic maps that vividly depict complex historical stories. With over 50 years of experience, Malcolm collaborated with numerous book publishers to create maps for various subjects such as Ancient Rome, the Crusades, the Vietnam War, World War II, and World Religions. Joined by his talented cartographer son, Alex Swanston, the duo has built an extensive archive of historical maps. Recognizing the potential of their maps in the digital age, they launched The Map Archive as an online resource, catering to researchers, teachers, students, and armchair historians alike. The brand also boasts an impressive team, including Liz Wyse, the Editorial Director, who curates the written content on the site. Passionate about world history, The Map Archive team welcomes suggestions for new maps and topics, constantly striving to improve and expand their collection. With their rich publishing history, collaborating with distinguished publishers such as Times Books, Penguin, Oxford University Press, and Harvard University Press, The Map Archive has solidified its reputation as a celebrated brand in the field of historical cartography.
