## Description

The Mappa Mundi Trust is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the Hereford Mappa Mundi, the largest medieval map known to exist. Nestled within Hereford Cathedral, this world-class artefact is not only a remarkable piece of cartographic history but also an essential part of the UK's cultural heritage. The Trust was established following community efforts to retain this significant item, sparked by concerns over its potential sale. With the support of the National Heritage Memorial Fund and generous donations, including from John Paul Getty Junior, a modern library building was constructed to house the map and the Chained Library, which holds manuscripts dating back to the 8th century.

Visitors can explore the rich history of the Mappa Mundi, participate in conservation efforts, and purchase souvenirs from the Trust's online shop. The Trust’s ongoing mission revolves around preserving this historical collection and providing educational resources for archivists, scholars, and enthusiasts, ensuring that the Mappa Mundi remains accessible to the public for generations to come.
