The Marsh is a renowned theater brand that has been a hub for artists, writers, and performers since its inception in 1989. Founded by Stephanie Weisman, The Marsh offers a platform for individuals to develop and showcase their performances. It all started as a Monday night performance series at the historic Hotel Utah and quickly gained popularity in San Francisco's solo performance scene. The brand's success led to a move to Morty's in North Beach and then to the back room of Café Beano, where it presented over 150 different performances annually. In 1992, The Marsh found its current home at 1062 Valencia, a cozy 110-seat theater. Over the years, The Marsh has expanded its vision, acquiring a 12,000 sq ft building in 1996 to evolve into a community arts center. Today, The Marsh includes two theaters, a comedy club, a café, and a youth theater. With its commitment to artistic development, The Marsh continues to nurture new talent and provide opportunities for everyone to get involved.
