## Description

The Mercury Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to educating the public about the Second World War, the Battle of Britain, the Royal Air Force and related subjects. Its charitable work began nearly a decade before it received formal charitable status in 2018. The foundation has supported a range of organisations, including the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF Club, the Gurkha Welfare Trust, The Royal British Legion, Ski Habilitation for wounded veterans, and the McIndoe Centre at East Grinstead Hospital.

Alongside its charitable support, the foundation promotes public understanding through events and historical collections. In 2018, it staged Time Flies, a gala performance marking the Royal Air Force centenary and highlighting the RAF’s role in the Second World War. The foundation also presents the John Collection, a significant private collection of Second World War aviation material, medals and memorabilia connected to the Battle of Britain. It has proposed creating a distinctive heritage experience at Chandos House in London, offering specialist visitors bespoke access to the collection in a historic setting.
