## Description

The Meta-Layer Initiative is a Bridgit DAO project focused on awareness, education, and collaboration around a more coordinated, layered Web. It explores how a shared digital layer above existing websites could make context, trust, governance, and collective intelligence more useful without replacing the sites and communities beneath it. The initiative brings together builders, researchers, educators, community leaders, institutions, and others interested in improving how people coordinate online.

Its programs include Metaweb Academy, which offers a guided course on the Metaweb vision, emerging architecture, trust infrastructure, collective intelligence, and digital governance, with reflections and project work. The Desirable Properties Challenge invites participants to assess, refine, and expand a public framework for capabilities such as privacy, interoperability, accountable governance, and transparent provenance. The initiative also supports open participation through its Governance Hub, with layers, workgroups, governance documents, and review processes. Through BRC333, it explores on-chain publishing and durable digital artifacts, including books, blogs, and badges. Together, these offerings provide educational, collaborative, and governance pathways for shaping future coordination infrastructure for the Web.
