## Description

The Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) is a regional and international multilateral platform dedicated to combating land degradation and promoting environmental sustainability across the Middle East, Central, West, and South Asia, as well as North and Sub-Saharan Africa. By uniting Member Countries and engaging with international organizations and the private sector, MGI works to restore vegetation cover, conserve terrestrial habitats, and implement nature-based solutions within a transparent governance framework. The initiative aims to strengthen efforts in addressing environmental challenges through coordinated regional action, setting ambitious targets such as planting 35.4 billion trees and restoring 99.4 million hectares of degraded land. The MGI also emphasizes cooperation with partners like the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), focusing on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration. Through collaborative efforts and scientific advisory support, MGI aspires to foster sustainable development and enhance environmental awareness within the region, ultimately contributing to a greener and more resilient future for all member countries.
