Founded in 2006 by Edie Morgan, a long-term care social worker, their mission is to help the elders of Key Peninsula age in place. Over the years, they have experienced significant growth and now have seven staff members, interns, and over 100 volunteers who provide a wide array of services to the community.

Their services and programs include a cafe and nutrition program, community volunteers, the Key Peninsula Senior Ride Program, the Key Senior Information Center, and support groups, forums, and classes. Every year, they serve approximately 800 individuals through an average of 4,000 instances of services. In addition, The Mustard Seed Project is currently in the process of building the only assisted living home for seniors on the Key Peninsula.

The assisted living home, called Mustard Seed Village, is expected to open at the end of 2022. With a strong commitment to supporting seniors and ensuring they are treated with respect, The Mustard Seed Project is dedicated to creating an elder-friendly community on the Key Peninsula
