## Description

The NADD is an association dedicated to improving support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and co-occurring mental health conditions (IDD/MI). It provides resources for professionals, programs, and others involved in care, with a focus on promoting well-being and improving the accuracy of psychiatric diagnosis for people with intellectual disabilities.

Its offerings include competency-based accreditation and certification programs for organizations and professionals, including DSP, specialist, and clinical certifications. NADD also provides consultation and training, hosts an annual conference, and shares information through its news and newsletter. Its publications include the NADD Research Journal, books from NADD Press, and the Diagnostic Manual–Intellectual Disability, Second Edition (DM-ID-2), developed with input from more than 100 experts to accompany the DSM-5. The DM-ID-2 and related materials address diagnostic considerations for people with intellectual disabilities.

Through these programs, publications, and professional learning opportunities, NADD seeks to recognize quality care and raise standards for services supporting people with IDD and mental health needs.
