The Online Citizen (TOC) is a regional online publication that was previously Singapore's longest-running independent online media platform. With a focus on democratic countries, TOC aims to examine the issues that matter to citizens and reflect the diversity of life, ideas, and opinions. They strive to foster an informed and involved citizenry by providing access to a wide range of news and views in an open and vibrant environment for sharing and debating.

Originally established in Singapore in 2006, TOC was renamed The Online Citizen Asia in 2020 to expand its coverage beyond Singapore to the greater Asian region while retaining its abbreviation, TOC, to honor its legacy. In 2021, TOC had to cease operations in Singapore after its license was suspended. However, the operating rights were transferred to Miao Yi Infotech Ltd in Taiwan in 2022.

Although TOC faced restrictions from the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act, it continues to operate with its website, YouTube, and Instagram platforms. Terry Xu and ad hoc unpaid volunteers now handle these platforms, as there is no financial support. TOC's existing staff transitioned to a new publication focusing on news from Greater Asia, while TOC refocused on its primary subject, Singapore.
