## Description

The Orwell Prize is the UK's leading accolade for political writing, dedicated to honoring works that embody George Orwell's vision of transforming political discourse into an art form. Each year, the prize celebrates outstanding books and journalism that address critical social issues. Organised by the Orwell Foundation, the prize categories include the Political Writing Book Prize, the Political Fiction Book Prize, and the Journalism Prize, among others. Recent winners have tackled significant topics such as homelessness and social injustice. In addition to its primary awards, the foundation also supports emerging talent through the Orwell Youth Prize, designed to inspire young writers to engage with political themes. The Orwell Foundation provides resources for educators, hosts events like the Orwell Festival and the Orwell Lecture, and offers numerous materials—including lesson plans and workshops—aimed at promoting Orwell's legacy and fostering political awareness among future generations. Through its various initiatives, the Orwell Prize upholds the pursuit of thoughtful and impactful political writing.
