The Palace Project is a brand committed to supporting public libraries in their mission to provide equitable access to digital content. Drawing on the long tradition of libraries as the center of citizenship and engagement, The Palace Project aims to restore the direct relationship between libraries and patrons, viewing libraries as Palaces of the People. At the heart of the Palace Project is the belief that the public library is the digital center of knowledge and creativity for their community. This robust suite of content, services, and tools allows for the delivery of ebooks, audiobooks, and other digital media. Funded by a $5 million investment from the John S. Knight Foundation, and as a division of Lyrasis, The Palace Project works in partnership with the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). Its commitment lies in providing libraries with greater control over acquisition and delivery of econtent, advocating for libraries with publishers, and protecting patron privacy.
