## Description

The Rand Family is a personal family-history website created by Chris Rand, documenting his family’s roots in Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England. Its family tree draws on research by Chris’s late father, Cyril Rand, and traces the family back to Thomas Rand, who lived in the late 17th century. The site follows successive generations through births, marriages, occupations and deaths, recording connections to places including Colchester, Great Clacton, Layham and London. It highlights family members who worked as carpenters, a tailor, a butcher, a police officer and a journalist, and continues the line through Chris and his son. Alongside the historical genealogy, the website shares family updates and memorial information, including notices about Janet Rand and Stella Rand. Chris invites visitors who have relevant information to contact him by email, making the site a resource for relatives and others interested in the Rand family’s history. Rather than offering commercial products or services, it provides a family narrative and genealogical record for preservation and connection.
