## Description

The Rare Life is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emotional support and solidarity for parents of children with medical complexities and disabilities. Founded and led by Madeline Cheney, the organization creates welcoming spaces where families can feel understood and less alone. Its central offering is The Rare Life podcast, hosted by Cheney, featuring conversations with parents in the community and experts in disability-related fields. Episodes explore subjects such as grief, internalized ableism, health anxiety, family planning, supporting parents, and the experiences of caring for children with complex needs. In addition to listening to the podcast, visitors can join discussion groups, read the organization’s blog, and access sharing materials. The Rare Life also invites supporters to contribute through donations and fundraising initiatives, helping sustain its work. Through candid conversations, community resources, and opportunities for connection, The Rare Life seeks to offer parents a virtual hug and a source of encouragement as they navigate the realities of raising disabled or medically complex children.
