## Description

The Recovery Club offers a four-week residential sober retreat for high-functioning professionals on Awera Island in Indonesia’s Mentawai Islands. Designed for cohorts of just four clients, the programme uses the island’s remote setting to create space for focused recovery. The organisation distinguishes its approach from traditional, template-based treatment, placing emphasis on trauma, nervous system regulation, identity, and developing ways to respond to discomfort without relying on substances or other external coping strategies.

The retreat is described as a structured programme facilitated by a professional team, with accommodation and activities included. These include counselling, group workshops, meditation, breathwork, gym sessions, ice baths, surf trips, paddleboarding, and snorkelling. Guests can also access calm bays and nearby surf breaks, while strong 4G supports work calls and contact with family. The Recovery Club presents the island not as a clinic or spa, but as a deliberate setting for recovery, with fewer everyday distractions and nothing for guests to plan.
