The Seafarers' Charity, formerly known as the King George's Fund for Sailors, has been dedicated to improving the lives of seafarers and their families since 1917. Our vision is to create a world where seafarers are valued and free from need and disadvantage. We provide essential grant funding to maritime charities, making a tangible and life-changing impact for those who work, or have worked, at sea.

Our funding supports seafarers in various aspects of their lives, from practical and welfare needs at home, in port, and at sea, to connecting with loved ones and finding comfort in retirement. In 2022 alone, we awarded 72 grants totaling £3,095,449 to 61 organizations, positively transforming the lives of thousands of seafarers worldwide. We not only provide financial support but also work towards targeting the systemic problems that lead to adversity in the first place.
